A note about AI, from Te Ariki

While I'm here: since avoiding AI usage has become an important part of many people's consumer choices, I'd like to disclose how AI is used to help develop Cryptic Garden.

I use AI to help me code and build the working mechanisms of this website. All of the creative content on this site has either been created by me (the clues and, obviously, some of the artwork) or purchased in packs direct from the artists (sprites, text packs and the like). I use AI to help me animate some of my artwork. I also use AI to help me remember a word that's on the tip of my tongue.

I personally value what this new technology has opened up for me in being able to put my creativity to use, both for fun and professionally.

I also want to say where I stand: I stand with artists, and I am against the theft of artistic works. I am still grappling with the idea that coding is somehow less of a creative art than, say, writing a book or setting a crossword clue. The only fair argument I can find is that the writers of that original code have appeared to adopt this technology the fastest. A thin justification, but there it is.
